The beam deflector especially the horizontal beam deflector of laser scanning image display system is studied in this paper. A rotating polycylinder-mirror used for the situation of high scan frequency is designed. The rotating polycylinder-mirror, compared with the rotating polygonal mirror, has the virtue of lower working speed and larger scan angle. The optical character and the scan result of the rotating polycylinder-mirror is studied, and the best input position of the laser beam is optimized. The dynamic character of the rotating polyclinder-mirror is studied too. The lens to correct the scan light non-liner deflection by the rotating mirror is studied. The scheme of video output method and rotating mirror speed controller is designed. The video signal and horizontal synchronized signal are all exported from the personal computer's display adapter when the controlling registers are set. The rotating mirror speed controller exports the signal to control the display adapter to synchronize with the rotating mirror. The galvanometer is used as the vertical beam deflector controlled by the horizontal synchronized signal directly. As the horizontal beam deflector, the rotating polycylinder-mirror can simplify the structure and decrease the cost of system. The static and dynamical balance is easy to be insured because of the lower rotating speed of polycylinder-mirror, and also resulted in a high relating precision. The light deflected by the rotating mirror can be corrected to parallel with lens and then the different scan angle can be obtained in the system by using convex lens of different focal length, which increase the application flexibility of system.
