• Methyltrichlorosiiane was used to synthesize ladderlike polymethylsilsesquioxane(PMS) in this study. The synthetic way of PMS and a new hydrolysis method were designed. PMS with regular ladder structure was obtained. The influence of various conditions on the structure of PMS was discussed. The structures and properties of PMS were studied with infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Experimental results show that the ladder structure and mo1ecular weight of PMS are closely related to preparative conditions and PMS with ladder structure is possessed of excellent heat resistarice.
