• Many countries are developing and making field trials of multimedia infrastructures in order to prepare for multimedia society. In Korea such activities started early 1990's. Firstly this paper presents the nationwide plans and overall organizational structure regarding multimedia development in Korea. Then the multimedia development activities in telecom operators and industry sector as well as the nationwide multimedia testbeds are described. Finally concluding remarks are addressed after comparison with multimedia activities in Japan, USA and Europe.
