The Japanese Experiment Module (JEM), "Kibo" is the first Japanese manned experimental facility and is one of International Space Station (ISS), which consists of elements developed by United States, Europe, Russia Japan and Canada. Kibo consists of two major facilities, which are Pressurized module and Exposed Facilities, JEM Remote Manipulator System (RMS), Inter-orbit Communication System (ICS) and two logistic modules.[figure] Kibo has many controllers and some kind of communication system in order to monitor the heath and Status data of JEM and to support much kind of experiments. The computers and controllers are connected by several communication system, Kibo has the low rate data communication system that is based on MIL-STD-1553B, the medium rate data communication system that is based on Ethernet and High rate data communication system that is based on optical fiber system. Kibo system and payload are controlled via MILSTD-1553B bus lines and EIA-RS422A lines. There is a possibility that interface mismatch occurs by misinterpretation of the design specifications. Therefore JAXA added the bilateral test before integration test. In result, JAXA could find and resolve the mismatch in earlier development phase. This paper focuses the design, test Method and its result of JEM communication system especially MIL-STD-1553B.
