In North America, MSAT system[1]has brought into operation by AMSC and TMI. Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has taken part in supplying various types of the mobile terminal from its service-start in 1995. Vehicle-mounted, transportable, maritime and fixed types have been supplied [2]. Here, we present new version of transportable terminal which is of notebook PC type called "OmniQuest".The terminal size and its weight are reduced by 78% and 82%, respectively, compared with the previous transportable terminal. This paper presents technical features of"OmniQuest"and technical approaches how to reduce the size, weight and power consumption. Various technical efforts are made for antenna, RF circuit, digital circuit and others.
