The radiation fields from rectangular horn antennas with lossy inner walls are studied both experimentally and theoretically. It is found that the horns with lossy walls normal to the principal polarization have almost equal E- and H-plane radiation patterns and that the horns with lossy walls parallel to the principal polarization have low cross polarization characteristics. The radiation patterns calculated by using a simple tapered waveguide model are in good agreement with the experimental results.
