A tangential electric field integral equation for a wire antenna on a dielectric half-space is formulated in spatial domain. Using this equation the current distribution of a square spiral antenna is obtained. The validity of the obtained current distribution is checked by the FD-TD analysis. Based on the obtained current distribution, the radiation characteristics of the spiral, including the radiation pattern, axial ratio, gain, and input impedance, are evaluated. It is found that the radiation into the dielectric is circularly polarized within a region bounded by critical angles.
