Digital communication systems above 1 GHz have been increasing rapidly all over the world. Since these systems are mainly used in business area, they may be interfered by city noise which is the composite noise of many artificial noise such as automotive radio noise. We therefore measured statistical distributions such as APD (Amplitude Probability Distribution) of automotive radio noise at 1.8 GHz to estimate the performance degradation of DCS 1800 system which is a digital communication system and already in use in Thailand. Noise characteristics of individual vehicle in the case of sedan type car is presented. Measurement results to study the relationship between noise level and traffic condition is also described.
