• We propose a service specification description method based on message sequence charts (MSCs) for describing the service specifications of the advanced IN. The MSCs represent the service procedures between the network and users in spite of the internal processes in network nodes, therefore it is easy for service developers including nonexpert ones to describe service specifications. The description method proposed was evaluated from reusability and coinprehensibility points of view. The results of these evaluation showed that the use of the description method proposed is effective way to describe service specification of the advanced IN.
