Quasi-Yagi antenna of which consists dipole, back reflector, and parasitic element in front of the dipole is applied to a radiating element for the phased array antenna with linear aperture. In order to improve degradation of the gain with beam scanning, parameters of the Quasi-Yagi antenna have been optimized by means of Genetic Algorithm (GA). And, the antenna element is applied to DOA estimation using such subarray technology as ESPRIT. In order to improve the resolution and accuracy, the antenna has been optimized by GA. Using an array antenna consisting of such optimized Quasi-Yagi antennas, degradation of the gain with beam scanning becomes smaller, and characteristics of accuracy and resolution on DOA estimation are improved conspicuously.
