We report a novel terahertz-wave source based on stimulated polariton scattering, and its linewidth control technique. Intense, broad-band terahertz-wave parametric generation (TPG) was achieved by using LiNbO_3 crystal pumped with a nanosecond Q-switched Nd: YAG laser, and it was applied to Fourier-transform spectroscopy. Furthermore, the linewidth was narrowed to the Fourier-transform limit (spectral purity Δv/v<10^<-4>) by injection seeding. The resolution of less than 100 MHz (0.003 cm^<-1>) was cleary shown by the absorption spectrum measurement of low pressure water vapor. Simultaneously, the peak power of more than 300 mW (dynamic range>10^6) and the wide tunability (0.7-2.4 THz) were achieved. The present terahertz-wave sources based on nonlinear optics can be operated at room temperature, and they are expected to be powerful tools for terahertz science and technology.
