Situation semantics has been used for HPSG and JPSG. If the Mental-Image Directed Semantic Theory (MIDST) is used, deeper meaning representation can be provided for natural language, because it is a theory based on images evoked in human mind. On the other hand, semantic analysis systems based on MIDST has been employing dependency grammar and it is nessesary for word meanings to be written in two parts of different natures. In case of HPSG, such meanings can be described uniformly and analysis systems with wide coverage can be constructed systematically. We have developed a syntactic and semantic analysis system based on HPSG with MIDST built in. While both of English and Japanese versions exist and need different files of lexical entries, grammar rules and so on, one common analysis engine is used.
