DQDB (Distributed Queue Dual Bus) is a MAN standardized by IEEE 802.6 and it has two unidirectional buses. It is known that DQDB has location dependent unfairness in terms of throughput at heavy load. Though the BWB (BandWidth Balancing) technique is introduced to improve the fairness, it decreases the throughput. We propose a buffer insertion technique on DQDB which permits to send the requests for the buffered frames and has local request counter for each buffered frame counting the received requests between two consecutively generated frames. We evaluate the performance of the proposed system and show that it improves the fairness without degrading the through- put and it decreases the system delay (delay from frame generation to frame reception).
