In conventional optimum satellite arrangement calculation, all combination of service areas must be calculated, as a result, too large calculation times are required. To resolve this problems, the genetic algorithm (GA) method is newly introduced. By applying the GA program to Reg. III eight countries case, calculation time can be sufficiently improved.
