Synchronous Acquisition Methods with Code-Orthogonalizing Filters in DS/CDMA over Multipath Fading Channels

This paper proposes novel efficient acquisition methods with code-orthogonalizing filters (COFs) is asynchronous direct sequence/code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) over multipath fading channels to shorten the acquisition time. First, as a synchronous acquisition method for noncoherent reception over multipath fading channels, a modified synchronous acquisition method using COFs by a normalized LMS algorithm and a complex style LMS algorithm are proposed. Second, in the direct detection method, the stepsize parameter of LMS algorithm is examined to shorten training time. Next, a novel synchronous acquisition method with COFs by multiple-dwell detection considering false alarm penalty is proposed. By the computer simulation results, we show considerable improvements of the average acquisition time in the proposed system for several conditions.
