Image Pattern Retrieval Method Using Fractal Coding

Image segmentation is realized by calculating basins of attractions in the state space of an iterated function system due to the fractal image coding. In this paper, we propose an image pattern retrieval method in fractal encoded data. This method is based on the image segmentation algorithm and the template matching. By using this method, we can extract human regions in encoded data with an appropriate template. We show its schematic algorithm and some experimental results.
