We study the problem of stabilizing a general nonlinear control system globally based on direct gradient descent control which is a dynamic feedback control law. The direct gradient descent control and the general nonlinear control system (original system) from a new system (extended system). Under an appropriate assumption we can make the extended sytem become globally asymptotically stable if its unforced system is stable in the sense of Lyapunov.
