If an antenna system wants simultaneously receive/transmit a signal of both satellite communication and broadcasting, the band characteristics of antenna elements, active devices, and passive devices of the antenna system must be wide. In this paper, a wideband dual Tx/Rx microstrip array antenna mounted on mobile vehicle is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of ten subarrays, and each subarray consists of 8x4 elements. For good isolation characteristics, the Tx and Rx feed networks of the proposed antenna are placed on two different layers. For satisfying the requirements of the wide bandwidth and high gain, the proposed antenna has two stacked patches. Moreover it works on a vertical polarization for Tx band and a horizontal polarization for Rx band. To verify the practicality of this antenna, we fabricated a Ku-band active phased array antenna composed often subarrays and measured the antenna pattern. From the measured results, we can see that the dual Tx/Rx microstrip patch array antenna system has a good performance.
