The soft stroke massage showed a decrease of EMG-level and relaxation of the abdominal muscle. The respiratory gas examination showed a decrease of PETCO_2 and an increase of PaO_2 with significant level. This modification suggests the respiratory condition shifted better in function. In order to examine the placebo effect, several subjects were examined in the stete of meditation with eyes closed. Although this control maneuver induced a significant decrease of PET-CO_2, however EMG-level did not change. It was suggested that the soft stroke massage induced relaxation of the abdominal muscle and improved the respiratory gas exchange in PaO_2 and PETCO_2.
