The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of the fluctuation of perceived self-efficacy upon the following behavioral changes. 447 university students were asked to fulfill I-E Scale and General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES). 36 subjects were selected from them based on the scores of I-E Scale and GSES. They were divided into four groups, 1) IH-group : Internal type and high in GSES, 2) IL-group : Internal and low, 3) MH-group : Middle and high, 4) ML-group : Middle and low. Ss were asked to increase their HR in one minute trials. In all five trials, false HR feedback was given to Ss as the sign of increase HR, independently of their real HR. Ss were asked to evaluate their strength of perceived self-efficacy in the following task before every trial. 3 factor ANOVA revealed that IH-group got significantly higher self-efficacy scores than IL-group. However, IH-group did not show a more significant increase in HR than IL-group. These results suggest that the fluctuation of perceived self-efficacy does not influence the HR changes. However, if one felt one was improving performance because of a great deal of feedback information, it would be possible to strengthen one's level of self-efficacy, and that perceived self-efficacy would be an intervening factor between the treatment and behavioral changes.
