Vibro-viscometer using triangular bimorph transducers: Using vibration type densimeter

We developed a new viscometer of the vibration-type to measure kinematic viscosity of liquid, using two triangular bimorph transducers. One is used as a transducer to measure ηρ, the product of viscosity and density ρ of a specimen liquid, the other is used as a transducer to measure ρ. The ηρ can be obtained by measuring the phase difference between the driving and detecting voltages of the bimorph, and the ρ can be obtained by measuring the voltage ratio similarly. Therefore, the kinematic viscosity ν=ηρ/ρ^2 can be instantaneously obtained by computing from both phase difference and voltage ratio. This viscometer has the features that it is possible to measure kinematic viscosity without an influence of temperature change because of using the frequency of nonresonant band, and we can easily measure kinematic viscosity because of the simple structure of viscometer.
