The author already published his exact statistical observation on carious teeth of lepers in No.4, Vol.1 of the journal "Rai". In the present paper he mention his views on the pyorrhoea alveolaris which has a close connection with constitutional diseases. The author made a statistical observation clinically in 336 cases of alveolaris of lepers, who were elder than 16 year old (♂208. ♀128) and a bacteriological study in 64 cases, and came to the following conclusions. (1) The morbidity of pyorrhea alveolaris in lepers (over 16 years old) is 61.3%. (2) The morbidity of pyorrhoea alveolaris is 72.6% in lepra tuberosa and 47.71% in lepra nervosa. So it should be extremely higher in lepra tuberosa than in lepra nervosa. This proportion is greatly different from that of the carious teeth, so that the morbidity of carious teeth is lower in lepra tuberosa than in lepra nervosa. (3) Pyorrhoea alveolaris developes generally in youth and increses in proportion to the age, reaching the highest (76%) in their forties. This fact is similar to that of pulmonary phthisis. (4) Even within three years after the onset of leprosy, the morbidity of pyorrhoea alveolaris comes higher up to 56.25% in lepra tuberosa, and to 10% in lepra nervosa. It is wonderful that lepra tuberosa has a close connection with pyorrhoea alveolaris. (5) The morbidity of pyorrhoea alveolaris increases gradually with the lapse of time after the onset of leprosy. (6) The site, in which highest morbidity of pyorrhoea alveolaris is observed, is in the lower front teeth, and then the upper molars and the upper front teeth, finally the lower molars. This generally correspondens to the order of the cumulus of fartar, and there is no peculiar portion which is different from cases of the normal person. (7) No leprous bacillus is found in the pus of pyorrhoea alveolaris and so it should be not right to call it "leprous pyorrhoea alveolaris." (8) A majority bacteria in the pus of pyorrhoea alveoaris is coccus. But generally sorts of germs are silmilar to those of normal persons and there is no peculiar point. (9) As stated above pyorrhoea alveolaris is surely more frequently seen in lepers. It is considered appropriate to the fall of resisting power of the body. (10) Consequently it is perceived that there is a very important relation between so-called pyorrhoea alveolaris and the constitutional disease or disoder.
