In August of 1967, the author conducted somatometry of head and face on 219 adults (104 male and 115 female) who lived in Miiraku and the results were discussed. Furthermore correlations between the measurements of head and face, and the measurements of dental arches and palate height were researched. The main results are as follows : (A) Somatometry 1) Head length : the mean value for the male is 185.51mm, which belongs to Short Type, while for the female is 178.13mm, which belongs to Medium Type. 2) Head breadth : the mean value for the male is 153.28mm and for the female 145.67mm. Both belong to Broad Type. 3) Bizygomatic breadth : the mean value for the male is 129.06mm, which belongs to High Type, while for the female is 136.22mm, which belongs to Medium High Type. 4) Morphological face height : the mean value for the male is 129.06mm, which belongs to High Type, while for the female is 119.70mm, which belongs to Medium High Type. 5) Nose height : the mean value for the male is 57.70mm and for the female 54.13mm. Both belong to Medium High Type. 6) Nose breadth : the mean value for the male is 38.84mm and for the female 35.34mm. Both belong to Narrow Type. 7) The head-type of the inhabitants in Miiraku belongs to Short Type and the face-type to High Broad Type. Comparing the results in Miiraku with those conducted 10 or more years ago in the south-west coast including Miiraku of Kyushu, the brachcephalization and other generation-differences on the inhabitants in Miiraku were noted apparently and the brachcephalization seemed to be proceeding toward the northern part from the southern part. (B) Correlation 8) In the male, the significant negative correlation is noted between inferior dental arch length and head length. 9) In the female, the significant positive correlations are noted between superior dental arch length, and head breadth, physiognomic face height, bizygomatic breadth and bigonial breadth. 10) In the female, the significant positive correlations are noted between superior dental arch length, and morphological face height, physiognomic face height and bigonial breadth. 11) In the female, the significant positive correlations are noted between palate height, and morphological face height and physiognomic face height. 12) In the female, the significant positive correlations is noted between inferior dental arch length and bigonial breadth. 13) In the female, the significant positive correlations is noted between inferior dental arch breadth and bigonial breadth. 14) Concerning with length, any significant correlation is not found between head and face, and dental arches. 15) Concerning with breadth, in the female, the significant positive correlations are noted between bigonial breadth and superior and inferior dental arch breadth. 16) Concerning with height, in the female, the significant positive correlations are noted between palate height, and morphological face height and phsyiognomic face height. 17) Any significant correlation is not found between head-auricular height, and dental arches and palate height. As above mentioned the measurements of dental arches and palate height showed positive correlations more apparently between the measurements of face than head and they were found more frequently on the female than the male.
