虚弱骨に対するカルシウム含有食, 活性型ビタミン D_3 の併用療法に関する実験的研究 : とくに歯槽骨の変化

Three-week-old male rats of Wistar strain were given calcium-deficient food for three weeks and bone debility was induced in them. The rats were then given a combined therapy of normal food containing calcium and active type vitamin D_3, and the effect on the mandibular alveolar bone at growth stage was investigated at two weeks. The results were as follows : 1. Findings in radiological bone density Examination of the differences in the averages of bone density between the control group and the other three groups showed singnificant differences between each two groups with 1% and 5% siginificance levels, and the control group showed higher values. 2. Compressive strength of the mandible The control group showed the greatest compressive strength, followed by the calcium-deficient food + normal food + active type vitamin D_3 group, calcium-deficient food + normal food group, and calcium-deficient food group in descending order. Significant differences (p<0.01) in mandibular strength were found between the groups. 3. Histopathological findings As compared with the control group, the alveolar bones in the calcium-deficient food group showed decrease in trabeculae, enlargement of bone marrow, resorption of bundle bone, and disappearance of bundles of Sharpey's fibers. Resorption lacunae were occupied by connective tissues. The alveolar bones in the calcium-deficient food + normal food group, as compared with the calcium-deficient food group, showed increase in trabeculae, remodeling of bundle bone, irregular bundles of Shrpey's fibers, and decrease in resorption lacunae. In the calcium-deficient food + normal food + active type vitamin D_3 group, as compared with the calcium-deficient food + normal food group, the alveolar bone showed increase in trabeculae and Haversian system, and regular bundles of Sharpey's fibers. Bone construction however was poor as compared with that in the control group. On the basis of the foregoing findings, the combined therapy of calcium-containing food and active type vitamin D_3 for bone debility showed the effect of bone remodeling and of accelerating bone construction.
