成熟期顎骨とカルシウム摂取に関する X 線学的ならびに病理組織学的研究 : とくに成熟期の下顎頭

Three-week-old male rats of Wistar strain were given a mixed diet (1 : 2) of a standard diet (MF formed food) and calcium-rich food (Sardine Powder, Protein Resource Development) and the effect of the food on the mandibular condyle at maturation stage, tibia epiphysis, and tibia metaphysis was investigated. The results were as follows : I. Radiological findings In the experimental group as compared with the control group, the mandibular condyle, tibia epiphysis, and tibia metaphysis showed orderly morphology with time and trabeculae were running densely. In the mandibular condyle and tibia epiphysis especially, dense osseous layers in the outer periphery were thick. II. Histopathological findings A. Contact microradiogram findings In the experimental group as compared with the control group, granular trabeculae of primary spongiosa in the mandibular condyle increased through the 9th week and were running densely but decreased in the 10th week. Trabeculae of secondary spongiosa increased with time and were thick and running densely. B. General tissue findings 1. In the experimental group as compared with the control group, the mandibular condyle showed increase in proliferative chondrocytes and decrease in hypertrophic chondrocytes at 8 weeks, decrease in proliferative chondrocytes at 9 weeks, and at 10 weeks decrease in proliferative chondrocytes and hypertrophic chondrocytes. Increase was seen in findings of erosion of calcified matrix by chondroclasts and in subchondral bone formation. 2. In the experimental group as compared with the control group, tibia epiphysis showed decrease in hypertrophic chondrocytes at 9 and 10 weeks except at 8 weeks. Increase was also seen in findings of erosion of calcified martrix by chondroclasts and in subchondral bone formation. 3. In the experimental group as compared with the control group, tibia metaphysis showed decrease in hypertrophic chondrocytes at 8, 9, and 10 weeks. Findings of erosion of calcified martrix by chondroclasts and subchondral bone formation increased. III. Hemologic findings In the control and experimental groups, no abnormalities were found in electolytic, biochemical, and endocrine examinations. The foregoing findings suggest that administration of calcium-rich food at maturation stage greatly accelerates bone formation morphologically and internal structurally in the mandibular condyle, tibia epiphysis, and tibia metaphysis.
