The present author supposes that when the investigation of the spontaneous regular electrical activity of central nervous system, in vivo or in vitro, is performed, the regularity and the spontaneity should be considered separately. And on the former property a few experiments were carried out by the author (1) (2), in which the regularity of isolated electrical activity could be shifted from the irregularity by applying the suitable environmental stimulus and consisted of the waxing and waning pattern of about seven waves presumably generated by the surface-positive mass change. From such results the following schema will be offered (Figure 1). On the other hand, the latter property, spontaneity, has been studied in the view of the effect of sodium fluoride on the spontaneous isolated spinal electrical activity. In other words, the experiments have been atte:mpted with use of sodium fluoride on the basis that the spontaneity persisting after isolation will be probably caused by intracellular glycolysis or acetylcholine action or by others because sodium fluoride has the anticho-linesterase action (3), the blocking action of glycolytic and Krebss tricarboxylic acid cycle (4), decalcification, etc.
