To avoid the influence due to dissolved oxygen, tin(II) ion was treated with iodine-methanol and the iodide ion produced was titrated with potassium iodate. The 2.0 cm^3 of tin (II) solution involved concentrated hydrochloric acid was cooled to ca. 10 ℃ and then was added an excess of 10 % (w/v) iodine-methanol. The mixture was immediately diluted to ca. 50 cm^3 with distilled water and then was titrated potentiometrically with 0.05 mol dm^3 potassium iodate. Blank test was carried out similar fashion. All procedure were performed in air. Amounts of tin(II) {(50〜150)mg} was determined simply and the analytical results were in good agreement with those obtained by the iodometric method (oxygen-free).
