The electrocardiography and myocardial metabolism were studied on thiamine-deficient dogs. The most important electrocardiographic changes were ST depressions which were classified into coronary insufficiency and myocardial damage. The majority of cases indicated flat or inverted T and prolonged Q-Tc, and A-V block and ventricular premature beat were observed in few cases. By the method of coronary sinus catheterization the author observed that pyruvate and lactate increased remarkably in blood and the uptake-ratio of pyruvate and lactate decreased to a great extent. The coronary A-V difference of potassium was negative and that of sodium was positive. The mechanism of abnormal ECG was discussed from metabolic disturbance of myocardium.
