Steady state experiments were made to find to the effects of some operating variables on the rate of heat transfer of the mold fermentation broths in sitrred fermentor. Results of the present investigation may be summarized as follows;1. An empirical equation which represents the effect of filamentous mycelium concentration on the correlation between outside film heat transfer coefficients, h_0,and acitator speed, N, has been dereved(Eq. 4).2. Gas retention of about 30% by volume was found to be effective for heat transfer of the mixing fluids employed.3. It was found that a Waldhof type agitator is superior to the flat turbine type one on the rate of heat transfer.4. There is no marked difference between values of h_0 of biological and non-biological systems.5. Valus of h_0 ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 kcal/m^ 2hr ℃ was estimated for the fermentation broths in the main course of this fermentation.
