Concentration of ascorbic acid and glutathione in many flowers having various colors with anthocyan was estimated in order to examine the relation between these compounds and coloration with anthocyan in plants : Flowers in four species, i. e. chrysanthemum, carnation, gerbera and sweet pea were selected for experimental materials and those flowers were classified into several color groups by the 59 standard colors table. The results indicated that anthocyan was much more contained in flowers with deep coloration than in those with light coloration and ascorbic acid was generally much more contained in flowers of deep coloration, rich with anthocyan than those containing no anthocyan. No significant relation between glutathione and coloration was not indicated. Acceleration of physiological function with absorption of infrared ray by anthocyan may be supposed for one of reasons.
