Sample woods used here were Japan lacquer tree and chestnut. The residual luminescence was produced with the high pressure quartz mecury vapour lamp. The samples were exposed to this lamp light for one hour. Then these were exposed to the infra-red light. According to the exposing hours, the samples laid upon the photographic plate respectively and left for three days.The residual luminescence of the samples exposed for thirty minutes to the infra-red light were faint and same as the samples that were not exposed to the infra-red light. (Fig. 1a, 2a)But following to the increase of exposing hours up to three to five hours, residual luminescence showed brilliant figrure. (Fig. 1b, 2,b) As to the matters that were exposed for eight or more hours, figure of chestnut became faint (Fig.1c) and of laquer tree disappeared. (Fig. 2c)
