The influence of coloured lights on the germination of seeds of Pinus densiflora and P. Thunbergii was investigated.Seeds of these species were continuously exposed to electric light through coloured glass filters for 4 weeks, and then the germination percentages were counted.Both in P. densiflora and P. Thunbergii, the seeds germinated better in full and red (6500Å) lights than in green (5350Å) and blue (4600Å) lights and in darkness.In P. densiflora, the germination rate was lowest in green light, while in blue light in P. Thunbergii.No consistent differnce was found in the germination rate under coloured lights between seeds collected in 5 localities respectively in P. densiflora and P. Thunbergii.
