According to my experiment, maximum tension of hauling ropes of to-and-fro aerial ropeways whose track ropes' length are constant, can be given by the equation, T'max=Q(p_0r+q_0).Explanation of notes used : d=horizontal distance between end supports.h=difference of elevation between end supports.u=direct distance between end supports=√<d^2+h^2.> l=length of track rope.r=(l-u)/u.q=linear specific weight of track rope.Q=load.h^^・=h/d.l^^・_Q=Q/(qd).p_0=coefficient which varies with h^^・ and l^^・_Q as shown in the table.q_0=coefficient which varies with h^^・ and l^^・_Q as shown in the table.T'=tension of hauling rope.
