1. The fruiting bodies of Panus stipticus and Trogia crispa and the rotted woods were observed. Considerable decay of hosts was induced by these fungi.2. The relation of temperatures to the mycelial growth of the fungi was studied by plate-culture method. The two fungi grew well from 15℃ to 30℃, and the optimum temperature for the growth seemed to lie at 25℃.3. In the mixed culture on peptone-glucose agar, the mycelium of Panus stipticus covered that of Cortinellus Shiitake slightly.4. Both of the fungi showed the BAVENDAMM'S reaction positive.5. The test blocks of Fagus crenata infested with Panusstipticus for 10 months showed 27〜38% decrease in dryweight at the upper parts of the media, 7.3〜14.0% decrease at the middle parts and 0.2〜2.0% at the lower parts. The test blocks of Chamaecyparis obtusa infested with Trogia crispa for 10 months showed 8.4〜9.5% decrease in dry-weight at the upper parts of the media, 0.2〜2.2% decrease at the lower parts.
