In the closed single storied forest of Hiba, most of the ground vegetation disappears and the ground presents a cleansed appearance. When we cut this single storied forest by 1/3 or 2/3 of the tree height in width, there occur the problems, which we must selve, whother the young growth of Hiba grows or not, the advance young growth withers or not, and their growth is promoted or rather checked by ground covers. Under the patch or strip cutting treatment, the growth of the young growth of Hiba is not so promoted by the cutting method of 1/3 of the tree height, but by thaf of 2/3 of the tree height both their growth and regeneration progress favorably. Accoding to this research, the distribution curve of the growth of the young growth of Hiba on the cutting ereas by the 2/3 of the tree height has two maximum parts and from these parts the curve falls gradually to both sides, but by that of the 1/3 of the tree height it shows one maximum part. In both these cutting methods, the position of the maximum values lies in 2 to 4m. from the end of the tree crowns. This result is an example carried out on the enviroment (on the coudition of the experimental plots, see table 1) where the young growth are uniformly dispersed on the cuttiag area and the matural regeneration can be expected.
