A revolution counter using a magnetic bubble device has been developed. The feature of this counter is that it operates without backup batteries or gear-down mechanism. To read revolution number held as a bit pattern of bubbles in the device, a 40kHz rotating field was applied. Bubbles were propelled to be detected by MR sensors. To detect bubbles more stably, width of eye pattern which was defined as repeatedly recorded MR signals was enlarged by adding an offset field about 10 Oe to the rotating field. The relationship between the offset field and the eye pattern width was investigated. Operating condition of the revolution counter was also analyzed by using this relationship.
