The ground-state magnetic and electronic properties of small iron clusters are studied by a tight-binding model. In the model, we include the effects of spin-polarization in new tight-binding parameters, which are fitted to reproduce the band-structures calculated by Local Spin Density Approximation (LSDA). The obtained average magnetic moments of iron clusters are larger than the bulk experimental value of 2.21 μ_B.
