It is inevitable that misconceptions will be revealed while using a natural language interface (NLI) to access the contents of a database. Because, the user's knowledge about the database structure and contents is often partial and/or faulty. As a partial solution to the complex problem of detecting and correcting user misconceptions while accessing the contents of a database with a natural language interface, methods are presented for responding to user's queries, when particular misconceptions are revealed. In addition, the need for knowledge that does not appear in the database and of database-domain hierarchies is illustrated while correcting user misconceptions. The advantage of this work over related works are examined.
