Attribute calculation is an approach for discovering automatically functional relations from databases. The functional relation is a kind of important regularity hidden in databases. In our approach, the process of discovering functional relations from databases is a process based on incipient hypothesis generation and evaluation. In this process, AI techniques and statistical methods are cooperatively used in multiple learning phases. This paper describes the capability of attribute calculation in KOSI which is one of sub-systems of the GLS discovery system implemented by the knowledge-based system KAUS.
