This study was on a pilot test (425 l/h) for the separation of bacterial cells grown on methanol medium. psudomonas sp. was mainly used in this study. After the pilot test(6 kl vessel) had been performed 20 times, the pretreatment procedure was determined to be as follows : (1) a retention time of 5-6 h in the heating tank(90℃), in which the pH was controlled in the range of 8.4-9.2,and (2) the pH was kept in the range of 4.5-5.0 in the aggregation tank, and then aggregation could be found. The much higher cell concentration resulted in lower cost for separation of bacterial cells. The evaporation speed of moisture in the aggregated cell-mass was 0.13 gm water/cm^2・h, while it was 0.075 gm water/cm^2・h in the untreated cell-mass. The minimum diameter of the aggregated cell-mass was about 0.03 mm in the case of Pseudomonas sp.
