This resin-bonded magnets have many advantages superior to the sintered ones in forming properties, machining properties, uniformity of products and cost Our process "whole die press forming" can improve those advantages furthermore. This process realized a lowcost mass production of various magnetic parts with little requirement for machining. We have applied SmCo_5 resin-bonded magnent (SAM-D) to a stepping motor and micro buzzer in quartz crystal watches. But this SAM-D magnet was inferior to the sintered ones in magentic properties. For example, its erlergy product (BH) max was 10 MGOe. This time, we have succeeded in developing a new resin-bonded magnet of which magnetic properties are as excellent as sintered ones. As the result, the foregoing disadvantages were eliminated. This resin-bonded magnet has such magnet properties as Br=7.5 to 9.2 KG, bHc=4.5 to 6.7 KOe and (BH)max=14 to 16.5 MGOe. The alloy composition thereof is Sm(Co_0.672 Cu_0.08 Fe_0.22 Zr_0.028)_8.35. The coercive force of this magnet is generated by wall pinning controlled magnetization and depends on the particle size. Making use of this fact. we have succeded in increasing the density of resin-bonded magnet by filling up the voids among large particles with small particles. That leads to enhance to the saturation magnetization 4πIs. We call this type of magnet SAM-DH. In this paper, we plan to report on (1) magnetic properties, (2) production method and (3} application to watches, of SAM-DH.
