We developed a quartz tuning fork for wrist watches by utilizing the coupling between the fundamental mode of flexture and that of torsion. We show here how to adjust the frequency and the frequency temperature characteristic of main mode (flexure mode) by increasing or decreasing the weights at the tops of the tuning fork arms. As a result, we have obtained a very small and highly accurate resonator with very simple supporting structure. The frequency change of this resonator is less than ± 1 ppm in a temperature range from - 10℃ to 50℃. We expect that this resonator can be used for small portable communication instruments or the like as well as for wrist watches.
