A speech synthesis LSI operating at a low voltage and with a low power consumption has been developed, the electric characteristics of which are fit to the application to watches. The LSI consumes as low as 1.5 μW (max.) in standby condition and only 600 μW (max.) even when in operation, and it works at low voltage from 2.3 to 5.5. By adopting the variable frames on PARCOR, the LSI is capable to synthesize speech to a higher degree with a low bite rate.
