The error in position detection was analysed for a slave clock equipped with an optical second-by-second position detector developed as a system clock for use in broadcasting stations. The character of irregular rotation of a rotary disk with eccentricity in an encoder was investigated by giving a certain amount of eccentricity to each gear of the clock mechanism in advance. As a result, the computed and measured values were proved to coincide with each other to the minutest details. It is effective, therefore, to minimize the effect of eccentricity given to a transmission mechanism of a clock, in such a case as presently in question in which a rotation error at each step is important first of all.
