• Although the pathogenesis of coronary sclerosis is practically unknown, it has recently been made clear that metabolic disturbances play an important role in the genesis of atherosclerosis including that of coronary arteries.The present study has been made in an attempt to reveal certain metabolic aspects with special reference to prophylactic as well as controlling measures of the condition, the results of metabolic research being compared with those obtained in the aged with or without such diseases as hypertension, arteriosclerosis, diabetes mellitus and myxedema, in which a high incidence of atherosclerosis has been established.
