• The possibilities of artificial intelligence application to the domain of documentation are briefly discussed. The technique of the representation of knowledge-semantic network, rule bases and frames-are attempted to some information retrieval systems. The expert systems are experimentaly applied to cataloging, authority control, classfications and education.
