Recently, the hybrid methods which combine, at some extent, the merits of one-step methods and multistep methods were proposed by Gragg and Stetter, Butcher, and Kohfeld and Thompson. However, the methods which were proposed by the first two authors have no ability of estimating the local truncation error, and the method which was proposed by the last author have only the ability of estimating approximatingly the local truncation error. We here propose a new type of hybrid method with an error-estimating ability exactly. This method is of the fifth order accuracy with an error-estimating ability of the sixth order, which is compared with the fourth order Adams-Moulton method or Hamming method and the sixth order Butcher method.
