• The crystal faces of ortholombic crystals of hen egg-white lysozyme were observed using AFM. The spirals were observed on the (110) and (010) faces. The spirals on the (110) face were elongated in the direction of c-axis and consisted of four linear parts and four round coners. The velocity of the steps advancing in the <11^^-0> direction was higher than those in the <1^^-10> direction. The mechanism of such anisotropy of the step velocity will be discussed.
