RANDK, Z., OGONOVSZKY, H., TAYLOR, A.w. and FOTO, S., Exercise-induced Alteration of Oxidative DAN Damage. Adv. Exerc. Sports Physiol., Vol.7, No.2 pp43-46, 2001. Reactive oxygen and mitrogen specise generated in physiologicak processes are continuously attatcking unclear and mitochondrial DNA. Oxidative DNA damage can have seriou outcomes through the induction of mutagenesis. Exercise increases the formation of free radical species hence the oxidative modification might be enhanced. Indeed a single bout of exercise culd increase oxidative DNA damage. However, regular exercise is reported not to affect on or reduce the DNA damage. This could be a result of up-regulation of DNA repair capacity, which might be an important part of the exercise-induced adapatation process. The beneficial effects of exercise in a number of diseases including certain cancers, might be mediated by adaptive response to increase antioxidant and repair systems to oxidative damege.
