A Partially Pre-Loaded Program(PPLP) approach is introduced in order to correct the incompleteness of the Page Replacement Algorithm(PRA) in paged virtual memory systems. In the PPLP approach, it is first necessary to determine the resident page set which may reduce the number of page faults. Based on an analysis of PPLP effects, four practical resident page selection algorithm are proposed. Address traces are used in PPLP experiments. The results are discussed with regard to the decrement of the page faults as well as the relation between program behavior and the selection algorithm.
